How to Fix iPad Disabled Without iTunes

I need to know how to fix iPad disabled without
iTunes. That does pose a challenge given that nearly
every tech support solution beyond rebooting involves iTunes. Before you ask, yes, I’ve tried power cycling
it. Make sure you actually turn it off, let it
sit five minutes, then turn it back on. That might fix the issue if the bug came about
due to an update. That didn’t fix it. The only official way to unlock if you forgot
the password is to do a restore or factory reset. Resetting it causes me to lose my data. So connect it to your computer and back up
the data on the iPad with iTunes on the computer. What else can I do from the computer? Try signing into iCloud and select to erase
the iPad if not a full restore. That won’t help me if I forgot my password. Depending on how new the iPad is, you could
show up at the Apple store with the device and receipt and beg them to reset the password
or device so you can log into it. That’s a long drive for me. Let’s say it says iPad says iPad disabled
connect to iTunes. You can open iTunes on the computer without the iPad connected, connect
the iPad to the computer, and it will show up on the devices section in iTunes. Then what? You’ll have the option to restore it from
a backup or do a set up as a new iPad. The set up as new iPad will be the option
that essentially brain wipes it and does the restore. In this sequence of events, it tries to back
itself up. Cancel and don’t let it do that. You do that by hitting the X to stop it. After the backup is cancelled, it will sync
up with the iPad, and you need to cancel that too. So what do I let it do? The first stage of this restoration unlocks
the iPad, which is what you want. Then you get a reactivated iPad and no data loss. Assuming I hit the buttons fast enough. If you can get into iCloud and find my iPhone
installed, you can do a wipe remotely via the app. Then I do a new set up and can update iTunes,
if it being behind one or two versions was the root last cause, as long as my password
was right. If you fat fingered the password a couple
times or had a dirty screen so it didn’t recognize the entries right, you can just keep entering
a wrong password until it automatically resets too. I didn’t set it to automatically wipe itself
after ten failures, though I know it won’t melt down like those messaging devices in
spy movies. If you want to erase it and reset it via recovery
mode, connect to a computer, open iTunes, force restart it – You do that holding sleep wake and home at
the same time until you see the recovery screen. Select to restore it, iTunes will probably
download, then do the set up.
